I My Barbarian sono un gruppo di artisti performativi costituitosi a Los Angeles nel 2000, composto da Malik Gaines, Jade Gordon e Alexandro Segade. Il trio crea e performa rappresentazioni site-specific, concerti musicali, azioni teatrali, video installazioni che esplorano i cambiamenti politici contemporanei giocando con figure allegoriche riprese dalla storia e dalla mitologia.
Hanno esposto i loro lavori e realizzato performance in numerose istituzioni d'arte: Lacma, Redcat, Hammer Museum, Moca, Laxart, Schindler House, Lace, Los Angeles; Whitney Museum, New Museum, Studio Museum in Harlem, Participant, Inc., Joe's Pub, New York; Yerba Buena Center, San Francisco; Hyde Park Art Center, Chicago; Aspen Art Museum, Aspen; Contemporary Arts Forum, Santa Barbara; Vox Populi, Philadelphia; The Power Plant, Toronto; De Appel, Amsterdam; Peres Projects, Berlin; Torpedo, Oslo; El Matadero, Madrid; and Cca, Tel Aviv.
Hanno partecipato a numerose Biennali: quella del 2005 e del 2007 Performa Biennials, the 2006 California Biennial, and the 2007 Montreal Biennial.
Nel 2008 il gruppo sta realizzando un nuovo progetto per il New Museum e per la Galleria Civica di Trento, parteciperà alla Biennale californiana (California Biennial 2008) alla
Estacion / Lui Velazquez, Tijuana e presenterà un'esposizione personale alla Steve
